This year on April 30th, we hosted a Día del Niño (Day of the child) event at El Jardincito in partnership with the Education Department from Shedd Aquarium.

Families enjoyed light refreshments and had the opportunity to do hands on activities in the garden. This event was the culmination of a series of workshops that we hosted at the Little Village Branch of the Chicago Public Library.

This spring we participated at the Día del Niño event at the National Museum of Mexican Art where we tabled with El Jardincito in the shadow of the amazing inflatable sculpture “” from The Floating Museum.

Families created seed mosaics together that they were able to take home.

During the summer in 2023, we hosted a 10 week drop in program at El Jardincito Nature Play Garden with the goal of painting panels for the 23rd Street side of their updated fencing.

Children and adults worked on original designs using themes that included nature, sports and popular culture.

We are currently painting panels for the Whipple side of the fence
